Weight is only one part of a specialist move. Shape, balance, material, lifting points and the access path all determine whether an item can be handled safely.
Start with the item itself
- Provide height, width, depth and approximate weight if known.
- Photograph the item from several sides, including its base.
- Identify removable parts and any known weak points.
- Explain whether the item is stone, glass, timber, metal or a combination.
Show the complete access path
Photograph doors, steps, landings, tight turns, lifts and the truck approach at pickup and delivery. A single stair or narrow corner can change the equipment and crew required.
Why marble and glass need special care
Heavy does not mean strong. Stone and glass can crack under twisting or impact, so panels and tops may need to be removed, carried in a controlled orientation and isolated from movement in the truck.
Do not add it at the last minute
A specialist item should be included before the move is confirmed. That allows the team to assess feasibility, allocate equipment and explain any limitations before arriving.
